For today’s Dental Minute I wanted to share seven things I wish all my patients knew about their dental health. Think of this as your insider scoop straight from your dentist!
Number one: how you brush matters. A soft-bristle brush, gentle circles,
and a full two minutes twice a day can make a huge difference.
Number two: fluoride is your friend. Using an ADA-approved toothpaste
and mouthwash helps strengthen your enamel and fight off cavities.
Number three: don’t forget your tongue! Bacteria love to hide there, and
cleaning it helps with bad breath and overall oral health.
Number four: flossing is not optional. Your toothbrush only cleans about
60% of your tooth surfaces.
Number five: use a straw when you can. It helps limit how much acidic
drinks like soda or coffee touch your teeth, which means less staining and erosion.
Number six: your oral health affects your whole body. Bacteria from your
mouth can travel through your bloodstream and impact things like your
heart and overall health.
And number seven: don’t skip your dental visits. You might not feel a
problem until it’s advanced, and by then, treatment gets more complex.
Catching things early makes everything easier.
So there you have it! Seven things I really want you to know. The good news? Small habits make a big difference. My team and I are here to help you every step of the way toward a healthier, brighter smile!
